Anna W. Strong was born and raised in Austin, TX.She graduated with a BA in Botany from UT Austin in 2000.In 2005, she completed her MS on the Reproductive Biology of Astrophytum asterias from Texas State University - San Marcos under the direction of Dr. Paula S. Williamson.In 2006, Anna continued part-time as a grant specialist for Dr. Williamson on the endangered Astropytum asterias and Abronia macrocarpa.

In June 2007, Anna moved to St Louis, MO after being hired as a Conservation Projects Coordinator for the Center for Plant Conservation.
