The ballet was conceived and is directed by Stravinska of the ULL Department of Performing Arts and Spell co-choreographed the production.

"When they go out into the dance world, they'll have to pick up and adjust to new teachers," said Sarah Stravinska, UL Lafayette dance professor.

The program includes Manifest Destiny, which explores Native American themes, and is choreographed by Sarah Stravinska, Professor of Dance."It is a combination of both classical ballet and modern dance," says Stravinska.

"The Dance Guild was really designed for dance education as opposed to a typical dance studio with a recital at the end of the year," said Sarah Stravinska of the UL Performing Arts Department, which oversees the program."A lot of parents prefer that."

Participants learn simple things such as creative movement, said Stravinska.Ages 8 to 10 learn choreography and modern dance.

It's the perfect gift for parents wanting to offer their girls a hands-on gift.

"I've always told my own kids, ‘No one can take away an experience,' " Stravinska said.

It was a collaborative effort, with choreography by Sarah Stravinska, professor of dance, and poetry by Dr. Skip Fox, professor of English, both at University of Louisiana, Lafayette.

The purpose of the project was to involve those people who may not read Othello at their leisure, said Sarah Stravinska, UL Lafayette performing arts professor.

"My whole purpose in this was to help people see that Shakespeare is still relevant to our times," Stravinska said.
