This time last year, Our Redeemer's Christian School's Jenny Strand was just a cheerleader.The senior could not play due to a knee injury suffered over the summer.

This season, however, Strand has not only made a comeback, but has been instrumental in the Knights' season.Just being back on the court during tournament time has Strand excited.

'I missed out on a lot of things last year,' she said. 'We are definitely ready to go this year.'

Strand and the rest of the Knights are looking to take their first step in defending the Region 6 title they won last season at the District 12 tournament starting Saturday.No. 2 seed ORCS tangles with No. 7 Surrey at 5:30 p.m.

'We have been very balanced,' Strand said. 'There isn't one player who stands out.We just try to go to whoever is on fire.'

Strand thinks the success of the Knights in last year's postseason run could help the current group.

'We are trying to get back to state,' she said. 'We are all excited.
