It's the same radio station,'' said Perry Stone, regional operations manager for the Cumulus Media stations in Fayetteville and Wilmington.‘‘It's not like on WFNC-AM you've got a different set of shows.It's merely a simulcast.''

"From a business perspective the station was just not happening," said Perry Stone, operations manager.

He declined to provide information on the station's revenue.

Even after the company spent millions of dollars to upgrade the station's signal strength, which resulted in it being changed to 94.5 FM this year, it still didn't improve ratings, Stone said.

"That really was the telling tale," he said.

Stone said the company expects the station's new format to bring in higher ratings and more dollars.

The 57-year-old Riddle said Perry Stone, who is operations manager for Cumulus Broadcasting in the Fayetteville and Wilmington markets, told her Wednesday that "it's not working out.
