    George Stone, composer, arranger and Director of Jazz Studies and Recording Arts at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California, is in his fourteenth year of teaching. Before his educational career, he worked mainly as a studio musician, private teacher and composer, writing for live shows and television. He has written for and/or performed with artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Clare Fischer, Dave Grusin and Tom Scott. He still performs regularly as a trumpet player and pianist, and the majority of his compositions and arrangements are published through Hal Leonard Corporation, as well as the UNC Jazz Press and Walrus Music Publishing.

    His most recent recording, a CD entitled The George Stone Big Band, Piece by Piece, is released on the Sea Breeze Jazz record label. The recording has received enthusiastic reviews from jazz journals and magazines all around the world.
