  Sandy Stoddard, field-services director in the Stockton office of the American Cancer Society, said more than 2,000 volunteers throughout the county serve her organization.Volunteers work in the agency's retail store, answering phones in the office, talking to patients, and driving patients to medical appointments, among other duties.They also help the agency run its special events, such as Relay for Life and Daffodil Days.
