Mount Calvary Lutheran Church is welcoming its new pastor, Jonathan Stern.

Stern received his college training at Northwestern College, Watertown, Wis., graduating in 1974.The following year he enrolled at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., graduating in 1979.

Stern has served at Ascension Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn.; New Salem Lutheran, in Sebewaing, Mich.; Bethany Lutheran, in Manitowoc, Wis..; and most recently at St. Stephen Lutheran of Adrian, Mich. for the last nine years.

His wife, Pat, graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., in 1975.After serving as a teacher for an inner city church, Siloah Lutheran, in Milwaukee Wis., they were married.She has continued her service with Pastor Stern at the congregations listed above.The Sterns have twins daughters, Mollie and Hannah; a son, Jesse; their youngest daughter is Jenna.

Mollie and Hannah have followed in their mother's steps by studying to become Lutheran teachers.They both graduated from Martin Luther College in May.Jesse is also attending Martin Luther College.He is in his third year of studies for the pastoral ministry, following in his father's footsteps.
