  I just talked with Perryville athletic director Jeff Steffens.He told me Perryville does not have school on Friday but will open up the high school at 8 a.m. to sell Notre Dame vs.Sikeston boys basketball tickets.

  PHS Athletic Director Jeff Steffens models the special t-shirt on sale for Homecoming 2007.The back of the t-shirt it is printed with the words "Go Big Green."
  
  The spirit t-shirts have been ordered for students, parents and alumni to wear to the game on October 6."Anyone who purchases one of our special t-shirts," said Jeff Steffens, Athletic Director, "will get into the homecoming game free of charge."
  
  T-shirts in adults sizes small, medium, large, X-large and XX-large are $10 each.Youth sizes small, medium and large will cost only $8.
  
  Shirts will go on sale at the Alumni Football game on Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m., which will precede the PHS Green & White scrimmage game.Interested fans may also stop by the high school office, or call Arlene at 547-7500, extension 343 or Jeff at extension 231.

  PERRYVILLE -- Perryville High School Athletic Director Jeff Steffens is getting some national attention.
  
  He is quoted in a Washington Post newspaper article concerning reform attempts to Title IX, the federal mandate that requires high schools receiving federal funds to offer girls the same opportunity to play sports as boys.
  
  In Perryville Title IX is blocking establishment of a boys soccer team, even though a number of boys have indicated a desire to play soccer.But as Steffens says in the article, adding soccer would upset a balance of equal numbers of boys and girls sports offered at the high school.
  
  The other problem with Title IX pointed out in the article is getting girls to go out for sports.
  
  Steffens said people wanted him fired because he couldn't get enough girls to participate.

  Perryville athletic director Jeff Steffens said his school has a case just about every year.

  Steffens said one important part of the policy is that student-athletes have to receive a ticket or be caught by a faculty or staff member for the policy to take effect.
  
  "We don't want to get into the hearsay policy, or we may have kids doing that all the time, trying to get kids in trouble," Steffens said.

  It seemed we struggled most of the night , PHS Coach Jeff Steffens told KSGM-KBDZ Sportscast Brad Palmer.I don't know whether it was lack of energy from last night.We had a tough game there , but you have to give a lot of credit to St. Vincent.
