Christine Steeples is a lecturer in the Department of Educational Research and a member of C SALT (Centre for Studies in Advanced Learning Technology).She has been extensively involved in the design and development of flexible learning programmes, both in her research as well as in support of her teaching.She has been at Lancaster since 1990 and has written over 40 papers/reports relating to learning and teaching with technology, especially on e-learning.
Since September 2000 she has been an Accreditor for the UK's Institute for Learning and Teaching (ILT), providing consultancy on programme accreditation and individual routes to membership of the ILT.

In 2001 Christine has a TQEF project, TASTeR (Teaching And Support Templates for elearning Resources).This is an internally funded project to produce e-learning multimedia resources that provide highly focussed information to potential students and help induct new recruits on the Advanced Learning Technology programme.
The Networked Learning programme is a short course run entirely online in which she has been centrally involved in all aspects of design, delivery, and evaluation.
Christine is also a tutor on the first year summer term undergraduate workshop on learning and assessment in higher education
Christine is a workshop leader on the Lancaster University's Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE (staff development programme)
Christine has also many years experience of planning and running workshops (nationally and internationally) for HE staff and e-learning organisations on all aspects of online teaching and learning.

Christine was a principal researcher on a DFEE sponsored Technologies for Training (TFT) project to identify tutor roles when the primary learning method is CBT/interactive multimedia.
She was a principal investigator on the JISC/CALT funded project, Networked Learning in Higher Education.
