Romero Centre spokeswoman Frederika Steen said immigration officials had refused to reveal details of when the group was arriving or where they would be staying in the city.Ms Steen said one of tonight's arrivals would be a man who was flown to Brisbane's Wesley Hospital last year for treatment after complaining of severe internal pain.She said the man had been smuggled out of Brisbane and returned to Nauru before receiving proper treatment for his illness, which had been traced to blood clots.Ms Steen said members of community groups would be at the airport tonight in an attempt to greet the arrivals.

Spokeswoman Frederika Steen said the rally, to be held outside the Immigration Department office in Brisbane's CBD from noon (AEST), was intended to draw attention to the plight of asylum seekers on the island of Nauru.

Ms Steen said the rally would call for an end to mandatory detention, the closure of all detention centres and the immediate resettlement of the Nauru-held asylum seekers in Australia.

She said Australians were not being shown the real picture on Nauru.

People who had been in contact with the detainees had reported that their physical and mental condition had deteriorated significantly, Ms Steen said.
