Dorothy Reed Steen

Dorothy Reed Steen was born March 17, 1908, in Pleasant Plains, Ill., and attended elementary and junior high schools in Hastings and high school in Auburn, Neb.She earned a dietetics degree at Hastings College and was head dietitian at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.

Part of her training was to skin cats for research, a task she always termed "disagreeable."

She married William L. Armstrong on July 26, 1930, in North Platte, Neb.They lived in several Nebraska towns before moving to Lakewood in 1953.
