   He lives in McAllen, TX, with his wife Sundee, their son, Jack, and daughter, Abby. He is active in the community, supporting the local fire department, food bank and athletic teams. His favorite leisure activity is spending time with family and friends.

   Frontera President Jim Steele made the announcement of the new affiliations on Feb. 6.
   
   "Frutag is the largest producer-exporter of pineapples in Mexico," Mr. Steele said, adding that the alliance will allow Frontera to expand its volume of distribution of that product.
   
   "We are going to gradually expand acreage, as well as continue with the development and improvement of our ‘super-sweet' pineapple program," Mr. Steele continued. "Production is well underway."
   
   Among the varieties, "We're harvesting our Hawaiian-type Champacas now. We have over 500 acres in production and we will continue to replant throughout the year. Because of the new irrigation systems that have been installed, we will be able to have a consistent supply on a 12-month basis."

   Mr. Steele also announced the affiliation of managing partner Luis Alonso-Aquirre.

   "He is a tropical fruit specialist and will be working with our programs on mangos, limes and papayas," Mr. Steele said. "He has 30 years experience in procurement and distribution of tropical fruit products in Mexico."
   
   Commenting further on his company's recent acquisitions, Mr. Steele noted that "the timing is right and the need is here. We will now be able to have more control over our product through growing it ourselves.
   
   "We are very cautious when we make the decisions to expand and improve on our existing lines," he concluded, emphasizing that whether it is in Mexico or Texas, "we plant only what we can sell."
