Dr. Staudenmayer is a psychologist in private practice in Denver, Colo., and he is the author of Environmental Illness: Myth and Reality.During the past 25 years, he has conducted research on the relationship between medical and psychological disorders.He has collaborated with allergists, immunologists, internists, chest physicians, toxicologists, neurologists, chemists, pharmacists, and psychologists in both inpatient and outpatient settings.His research interests and publications have spanned basic cognitive science, language and reasoning, medical decision-making, antisocial behavior, psychophysiology and biofeedback, psychosomatic medicine and psychogenetic illness, psychoneuroimmunology, personality disorders, and the methodology of provocation chamber challenges.Dr. Staudenmayer has been Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the New Mexico State University and has held academic positions at the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research in New York City and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.His other writings have included six book chapters and 40 papers in the scientific literature.
Upon completion of this educational activity, the learner should be able to:
describe the phenomenon of idiopathic environmental intolerances (IEI); review the evidence for psychogenic theories; and assess for differential medical and psychiatric diagnoses in IEI patients, and describe the important role played by provocation challenges.
