Barondale Public School's junior choir sang at the inaugural meeting of the new board of trustees on Dec.4 at 7 p.m. They will sing again in the atrium of the Peel board office on Dec.15 at 1 p.m. On Dec.21, the junior choir and students in grade 3 will present It's December In Our Town.

Lancaster Public School will host the holiday concert December in our Town on Dec.20 at 7 p.m. Students will perform songs about several holidays including Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Las Posadas.

"People are looking for alternatives for their children, and I think they appreciate this program will help prepare young people for the constantly changing global workforce," said principal Cathy Standring, who insists the program does not prematurely impose corporate values on pre-teens.

"We don't talk to kids about employability; we talk about leadership qualities, about helping each other be successful in life.

"It's not just about starting your own business; it's about making the curriculum meaningful and relevant wherever kids will go in life."

Students are accepted into this program on the basis of their Grade 6 report card, a written essay and the recommendation of their teachers.Each student pays a $75 fee to help defray the costs of cutting-edge computer technology.
