Jonathan Stambolis was elected to the Board by a vote of members at ACON's Annual General Meeting last Wednesday 6 December 2006.
Currently practicing with Gilbert + Tobin, Jonathan has broad experience across Australia's financial and banking sectors.He is due to lead a same sex discrimination case before the UN's Human Rights Commission next year, has acted for Amnesty International and has undertaken a significant amount of pro bono work, especially for indigenous persons and businesses.Jonathan also recently co-founded an initiative to help improve access to affordable inner-city housing for gay men and lesbians via a system of co-op mortgages.He has also travelled extensively overseas and speaks Hebrew, German and Danish.
Adrian Lovney, who was re-elected as president, says he expects Jonathan to make a significant contribution to ACON."Jonathan is an outstanding candidate in terms of his knowledge, experience and contacts as well as his commitment to the GLBT community," he says.
