Ada Stambaugh teaches grades 9 through 11 at the Harford Christian School in Darlington, Harford County.Ms. Stambaugh continually asks her classes to explore, analyze, and improve the environment around them.She led students in the restoration of wetland habitat for bog turtles and other native species.She also conducted the planting of cool- and warm-season grasses, which buffer the adjacent stream and provide wildlife habitat, demonstrating the options available for farmland that is not being used for growing crops.Ms. Stambaugh¡¦s newest project is the raising of horseshoe crabs from eggs in her classroom.Each year, her environmental class makes a presentation to the staff, students, parents, and community about the projects they conducted and their importance to the Chesapeake watershed.
