Biography: Sharon has been employed by the St. Louis Arc providing community based services and supports since 1989.She has worked with people with developmental disabilities for 24 years.Sharon is a member of the St. Louis Arc Quality Enhancement Committee, Behavioral Supports Committee, Staff Training Committee, and has presented at the Council on Quality & Leadership conference in April 2005, 2005 & 2006 MPRA conference, Missouri State Medicaid Conference- 2004,and many local and internal trainings to support people with developmental disabilities including Effective Teaching, Positive Behavior Supports, Person Centered Plan Facilitation, and Supporting People to Achieve Personal Outcomes

We have an amazing direct support workforce and we hope that they help us over the next four years," said Sharon Spurlock, Director of Family Supports and Quality.

"For one-on-one services, it's $26,000 a year," said Sharon Spurlock, the program director.

Well, if Medicaid is paying $17,500 to the other program, that would leave a shortfall of only $8,500.That might seen doable, except … "We don't take Medicaid," said Spurlock.

Instead, the Department of Mental Health purchases services from CIP and is reimbursed by the feds through the Medicaid Waiver program.

Sharon Spurlock, Director of Family Supports & Quality, has worked in the field of services to people with developmental disabilities since 1982. She has worked in the St. Louis Arc's Community Integration programs for the past 19 years and has also worked as a supported employment manager and residential program supervisor. Sharon received a B.A. degree in psychology from Saint Louis University with a minor in Special Education, holds several teaching certifications, and is a co-founder of the St. Louis Region's Day Program Association. Sharon's passion is helping people with disabilities and their families find great supports in the community. She took her current job directing St. Louis Arc's quality enhancement efforts and family support services in 2008.

Sharon Spurlock is the Assistant Director of Community Integration Services at the St. Louis Arc. In addition to overseeing community-based services for 100 people, she is an active member of the agency's Quality Enhancement Committee and trainer for Positive Supports, Personal Plan Facilitation, and Legislative Advocacy.Ms. Spurlock has twenty-two years experience supporting and learning from people with developmental disabilities.
