Kerry Spellman, development coordinator for the research foundation, said John's fund-raising total puts her into the top 2 percent for a single contributor across the nation.

Spellman said John had not pre-registered, and when she showed up with over $10,000, she was quite taken aback.

"It is extraordinary that a young person could raise that much," Spellman said.

Kerry's non-profit work began with a year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps where she worked as a mental health counselor at the Evergreen Counseling Center in Hoquiam, Washington.After a year of volunteer service, Kerry moved to Boston where she spent three years in Financial Services as a Senior Associate at State Street Research and Management where she was involved in staff management, corporate training, operations management, marketing, and sales.

Kerry's experience in event planning began in Boston where she coordinated many social events.While attending business school, Kerry further developed her event and fundraising experience as class social coordinator and as the vice president and fundraising director for the school rugby club.

Originally from New Canaan, Kerry earned her BA in Human Development and Psychology at Boston College, her Certificate of Specialized Studies in Business Administration at the Harvard University - Graduate Extension School, and her MBA at the University College Dublin, Smurfit Business School, in Dublin, Ireland.Kerry now resides in New Canaan and remains involved in charity work through the Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport and the Junior League of Norwalk-Stamford.
