Kent joined the firm in 2005 and will be working primarily on litigation matters.He is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

After graduating from law school, Kent worked as a civil litigator in the Bay Area concentrating on insurance defense work and the structuring of limited partnerships.He returned to Minnesota to be with his family in the Freeborn County Area.Since returning he has practiced as a civil and criminal litigator in the Twin Cities and Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Kent is a member of the California Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association and the Eighth District Bar Association.

Aside from practicing law he loves the outdoors and spends his off hours running, hiking, bird watching and as a referee for several sports.

As a young man, Kent read stories of Abraham Lincoln's trial work and was inspired to go to law school.

"He started as a trial lawyer for railroad companies and is known for taking on dozens of cases for not the most popular people," Kent explains. "I enjoy advocating for people in court. With my work, someone is already in trouble and I'm trying to figure out what we can do to get them out of trouble or lessen the difficulties."

Between civil litigation for personal injury, construction and employment disputes and other business litigation, Kent also practices in criminal litigation for Melchert Hubert Sjodin. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy for his tenure as lead counsel in civil trials.

"I'm not afraid to try cases. I enjoy assessing the strengths and weaknesses of a case and letting clients know what they're up against," Kent says.

Through a long career in the military and federal government, Kent's father taught him that good work means "showing up, getting things done and doing them right," he says.
