  When Pete Spanos founded Vetta Sports, a local network of recreational facilities, parents wanted their kids to learn specific skills at his clinics. Now, they just beg Spanos to get the child away from screens.
  
  He worries about his own kids, too: His 8-year-old daughter asked him whether babies get assigned an email address when they're born. She's continually begging for stories about how her parents used to collect tadpoles in the creek; she says their childhoods seem "more real" than hers.
  
  After watching their 13-year-old daughter text, Spanos and his wife started monitoring their own habits. "I would just look down at that little BlackBerry from time to time," he says sheepishly.

  Peter Spanos is CEO of Vetta Sports Clubs, which has five indoor sports facilities in the St. Louis, MO, area. With soccer as the base, Vetta Sports has experience in multiple sports and in managing multiple locations. Pete is a former Division I soccer player, Xerox sales representative, and earned an MBA prior to founding Vetta Sports. Driven by a passion to teach, instruction was a building block in the early years of Vetta. Today, along with new projects, Mr. Spanos spends time on strengthening management and is one of the lead course instructors for USIndoor's Certified Arena Operators management certification. He joined USIndoor's Advisory Board of Directors in 2003.
  
  Vetta, named after Pete and John Spanos' (COO) grandmother, has a long-term committed executive team, with 200 employees and over 1.5 million visitors per year. The team has managed locations in Indiana and diverse sports such as tennis, racquetball, volleyball, basketball, pools and fitness centers.
  
  Pete was the founding Board Chairman for America Scores-St. Louis, a not-for-profit urban soccer, literacy and community service after school program.
