    U.S. Census Bureau data show the national average annual salary for a person with an MBA is $ 51 , 000 , said Karen Spahn , executive director of institutional research at the University of Phoenix's headquarters in Phoenix.

    A recent MBA graduate from New Mexico State University's College of Business was told by his new employer that his MBA boosted his starting salary by $ 15 , 000 , to a total of $ 62 , 000 , said Joe Benson , director of the MBA program at NMSU.

    NMSU's College of Business has about 2 , 000 undergraduate students and more than 200 graduate students , including 150 MBA students.

    While the lure of better-paying jobs has increased the number of El Paso area residents heading back to school , it also has increased competition among schools.

    Karen Spahn , formerly Manager of Planning Information Systems at the Board of Regents and now at the University of Phoenix , reported that in one year's time , the task force proposed a new model for transfer that includes new transfer limits ; new transfer degrees ; new general education curriculum ; new common major requirements for equivalent majors ; transfer blocks for general education , major requirements , and associate degrees ; and new pathways for transfer.

    The task force also proposed a new support system for the transfer model , including a new management system , a new advising system , a computer-based course applicability system , a computer-based transfer data warehouse , and articulation support services.
