[Dr. W. Glenn Sowards] Dr. W. Glenn Sowards recognized God's calling to ministry when he was a young teenager. He followed that call faithfully through Kentucky Wesleyan College and the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University, and through 42 years of service in the United Methodist Church. While a student, he advanced his preparation for ministry in the United Methodist Church by serving as a student pastor on the Madisonville Circuit and at Nortonville, Kentucky.

His first pastoral appointment was to Kuttawa, Kentucky. In the following years he was pastor at numerous churches throughout western Kentucky. In 1981 he was appointed as District Superintendent of the Hopkinsville District. Later he filled the same role in the church's Owensboro District.

Though technically retired, Dr. Sowards has remained active, recently completing a 10-month period as interim District Superintendent for the Madisonville district. He is currently a minister of visitation at Settle Memorial Methodist Church in Owensboro, where he and his wife, Charlotte, now reside.

After the awards ceremony, a new video about Wesley Village, "Partners of Hope," was shown. Three aspects of life in Wesley Village were presented.
