    The U.S. food supply is considered among the safest in the world, but there are many points in the processing chain where a terrorist could tamper with a product, said Dan Sowards, food and drug safety officer for the Texas Department of State Health Services.

    "You might have 28 nodes in there where a terrorist could potentially attack," Sowards said at the conference.

    Imported products are one of the biggest worry points, he added.There are only about 800 federal inspectors nationwide, and just 2 percent of imported food products get inspected, Sowards said.
