   Solace Kirkland Southwick , a partner , is a member of the Litigation Section and concentrates her practice in commercial litigation , with a heavy emphasis on appellate and appellate-related matters. Ms. Southwick has substantial experience in federal and state courts of appeals , with particular familiarity with the practice and procedure of the Supreme Court of Texas and extensive experience with state and federal class actions.
   
   Ms. Southwick is a native Houstonian. She attended Smith College ( B.A. 1984 ) and the University of Texas ( J.D. , with honors , 1988 ). Ms. Southwick was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King , U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit , in 1988-89 and a Law Clerk to Justice Nathan Hecht , Texas Supreme Court , in 1993. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
