Kathy Dwyer Southern has been President of the Capital Children's Museum in Washington, D.C. since September of 2001.Just prior to accepting this post, she was President and CEO of Port Discovery at the Children's Museum in Baltimore for over five years.Previously, she held the positions of Executive Director of the Montpelier Station presidential site and museum, as well as Executive Director of the National Cultural Alliance.Her leadership positions include Instructor at American University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Shenandoah Conservatory of Music; General Co-Chair of the AAM 2000 Annual Meeting Committee; member of the Board of Directors of the National Cultural Alliance; and President of the Board of Directors of the Sculpture Center.
