John Southall BSc(Hons) Dipl Arch RIBAArchitectJohn Southall joined FCBa's London office in 2002 as a Senior Architect.Before joining FCBa, John had been Project Architect at Stanton Williams on the Wellcome Trust Millennium Building at Wakehurst Place, West Sussex for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew which was one of the Millennium Commission's 12 landmark buildings.It contains scientific research laboratories, public exhibition space and an academic wing (teaching and residential spaces).It was acclaimed by the press and won several awards.Previous experience incudes working at Bennetts Associates on various projects including the John Menzies Headquartes in Edinburgh, Heathrow Visitors Centre and a research paper on low energy use of a Powergen building for a symposium in Berlin.Previous experience includes being a co-director of SW Architects, where he submitted an entry for the Spreebogen Competition in Berlin which was the highest placed British entry.While a partner at David Chipperfield and Partners, John worked on the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol, Brownlow Mews and Cobham Mews Studios in London and the Gotoh Museum in Tokyo.He has also been a studio tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture and visiting critic at Oxford Brookes University.He is currently working on the new Sci-Tec Centre for Oundle School bringing together Science, Technology and Art Departments which incudes a 250 seat lecture theatre and exhibition space.
