Sanjay P. Sood holds a Masters in Technology (Electronics and Communications Engineering) specializes in Telemedicine and Healthcare Technologies, he has been associated with the field of Telemedicine from almost a decade and has pioneered telemedicine projects in India, Benin and Mauritius.Coordinated (and Co-investigated) a 1.5 million USD National Telemedicine (Pilot) Project "Development of Telemedicine Technology" at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali (India); Is a Telemedicine Consultant with W.H.O. (AFRO); Formerly, a Consultant Biomedical Engineer for Punjab Health Systems Corporation - a 22 million USD World Bank project.He has been the Principal Resource Person for Medical Informatics for C-DAC, at national level.He Has over two dozen publications/presentations on telemedicine; Has authored two book chapters on telemedicine [including one on "Telesurgery" for Encyclopedia of Biomedical Engineering by Wiley and Sons Inc. (USA)]; Has been a technical reviewer for a book (Lawrence Erlbaum Publishers, USA) on Telehealth authored by eminent American authors; Is a Marcus Evans Speaker (Telemedicine); Has served on the Executive Council of International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth; Is a peer-reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine; Is currently serving on the Editorial Board of International Journal of Healthcare Technology & Management ; and Board of International Advisors for International Society of Teledermatology; Is an international volunteer; For professional activities, has traveled to over 15 countries including Benin, Kosovo, Congo, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, USA, Canada, etc.; Is a recipient of scholarships from University of Michigan, USA & Swedih International Development Agency.Sood is currently stationed in Mauritius as Head of School, C-DAC School of Advanced Computing (C-SAC) affiliated to University of Mauritius.Is also researching on diffusion of telemedicine technology in the developing world.
