Aimin Song obtained his PhD in Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing in 1995.After three years of prestigious fellowships at University of Glasgow and University of Munich awarded by the Royal Society and Alexander von Humboldt foundation, he worked at the Nanometre Consortium, Lund University as a Swedish Natural Science Research Council Open Postdoc and then a guest lecturer. He moved to Manchester as a Lecturer in 2002, and established two new research areas in the School: ultra-high-speed (up to 2.5 THz) nanodevices based on inorganic semiconductors such as GaAs and printable electronics based on organic materials. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2005 and became the Professor of Nanoelectronics in 2006.
