Steve Sobol is the founding principal of ESH Sciences, Inc. (an environmental, safety and health consulting firm).
Steve was a project manager at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) from 1989 through 2002.
His specialty was environmental support to the US military on weapon system acquisition programs.
He provided life cycle analyses for aircraft, artillery, munitions, ships and electronics systems.
Clients included the US Army, Navy and Coast Guard.
In addition to conducting Programmatic Environmental, Safety and Health Evaluations (PESHE) for weapon systems, he wrote guidance manuals for decision makers managing these programs.
He also prepared environmental life cycle cost estimates for system components.
Also at SAIC, he managed environmental impact (NEPA) tasks, and conducted pollution prevention opportunity assessments as well as compliance audits.
Clients included the Department of Energy's Clean Coal Program and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Prior to joining SAIC, Steve worked for a regional engineering consulting firm providing environmental services for highway projects and contaminated sites.
He started his career counting cars and measuring air pollution on an Atlantic City street corner, assessing the environmental impacts of casino development.
His professional background includes experience in most environmental disciplines, with a focus on life cycle impacts from systems engineering projects.
His interests include environmental, safety and health considerations of high technology systems; and environmental challenges in developing countries.
Steve has a B.S. degree in biology from Syracuse University, and is a member of the American Chemical Society.
