Ben Smits

Ben Smits practices in both the Business and Commercial Teams and the Property Team.

Ben's commercial advices include acquisition and disposal of real estate, businesses and private companies, effective business structuring, management issues, franchises and financing transactions.He is experienced in drafting commercial contracts, including sale, distribution, licensing, management and shareholder agreements.

Ben's experience includes advising and strategising with businesses in respect of the protection of assets, including confidential information, all aspects of intellectual property, with emphasis on copyright, trade marks, business and domain names, and in relation to potential passing off and Trade Practices Act actions, and restraints of trade.

Ben is experienced in employment law related matters including both advising and drafting agreements and in commercial and employment related litigation.

He acts for several listed public companies in relation to commercial and retail leasing and licensing.
