Anthony Smits is a partner in the firm's Financial Restructuring Group.Mr. Smits' practice is focused primarily on the representation of distressed investors, institutional investors and other major constituents in complex workout and insolvency matters, including distressed mergers and acquisitions, both domestically and internationally, as well as representing multinational corporations in the role of special international bankruptcy counsel and foreign representative.Mr. Smits also assists foreign administrators, trustees and liquidators in seeking relief in the United States under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Prior to coming to the United States, Mr. Smits practiced in South Africa as an attorney.Mr. Smits is an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law where he teaches a course on international and comparative corporate insolvency law.
