ESL Program Instructor

Description: The ESL Instructor is responsible for ESL instruction to students enrolled in the ESL Program offered by the Office of Open Learning.The ESL class instruction incorporates learning objectives to advance students language skills and assist them in integrating into a university environment.Duties include: planning, preparing and delivering daily lessons for a maximum of 15 instructional hours per week.

The Star's nine-part series, The Job Hunters, was sparked by an e-mail, dated Sept. 5, 2003, from Andy Smits, the co-op program manager at Mississauga's Brian J. Fleming Adult Learning Centre.He was responding to an article I had written about a Statistics Canada report.

The series, Smits said, has spurred interest not just from employers and potential students, but from other districts as well.

Andy Smits, the co-op program's manager, said there have been 550 students - in 20 classes - enrolled in the program since last summer and 95 per cent of them have been placed in jobs relevant to their professions and qualifications.
