Experienced Consultant and Management/Support Professional Scott W. Smith is the president of Vertex Consulting , a consulting firm specializing in computer networking and data communications.Previously , Mr. Smith was the Data Communications Manager at the University of Colorado-Boulder for 11 years , during which time he managed and supported most major data networks on the Boulder campus.During the same time , Mr. Smith headed the office automation networking group at CU-Boulder and supervised the installation of over 100 departmental LANs.

Mr. Smith's areas of specialty include internetworking designs , technical audits of existing networks , long-range planning , cabling systems design , and project management.He has installed and supported various T1-based telecommunications systems using both fiber optic and microwave media , and is also a specialist in FDDI design and integration.

Mr. Smith is also an adjunct professor at the University of Denver , where he teaches courses in data communications and local area networks.He holds a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics , an M.A.T. in Physics , and an M.S. in Computer Science.He also has achieved his Registered Communication Distribution Designers ( RCDD ) and LAN Specialist Certifications from the Building Industry Consulting Services International ( BICSI ) .
