Joyce Smith, a member of the Clearview Public Library Board since 2001 and its current chair, has actively participated in the promotion of library service at both the provincial level through her tenure as an OLBA Councillor and OLA SuperConference Planner, and locally through her unprecedented work for the replacement of the New Lowell branch. Joyce stirred the community to action and worked tirelessly as the chief organizer for the community's fundraising efforts. She believes strongly in the importance and value of the small community library.

The awards recognize continuity of service with a community group.... Joyce Smith, Branch Head for the Creemore and Sunnidale Branches of the Clearview Public Library is retiring at the end of June 30, 2000.
