The pre-match entertainment will feature a match between the Chief Minister's side and a team picked by Netball NT President, Helen Smith.

Netball Australia's national events manager Helen Smith said the national league continued to grow after experiencing a boom year in 2003, when overall spectator numbers jumped by 12 per cent on the previous season.

Ms Smith said the relocation of the second team to Newcastle had been a success and innovated promotion had helped the national league's growing support.

"The example of the Firebirds playing Darwin is one, the Sydney versus Melbourne rivalry is another, and there's interest from Tasmania in having a national league game down there, which is important to us," Ms Smith said.
