Graham Smith, research manager for Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, says companies were first drawn to the area for economic reasons."We have a very high work ethic in the region, and the low labor cost is certainly a very attractive reason to locate here," he notes. But now, he says, companies are also locating in Buffalo Niagara because similar businesses are thriving in the area."They like to be together," Smith says."They think that if someone else is doing well here, they will probably be able to do well too."Reeb caution about the "herd mentality" and says that making a decision of this magnitude based on that fact that "everybody else is doing it" can be deadly to your business. For every company that has thrived in a popular site, he says there are others that have failed."Back office is one of the fastest growing labor demand markets in the country," he explains.
