Elaine Smith, Chairman of Friends of Stanley Park, is leading a campaign for the seaside town's park to be recognised as the best spot to picnic in the UK!

Stanley Park is battling it out against nine other sites across the country to win the prestigious title of Warburtons National Picnic Site of the year. "Its hampers at dawn," said Elaine.

During May, hundreds of fans of Stanley Park voted on-line for the site in the award's regional round. Votes were counted and verified and the site was crowned as the best place to picnic in the north west!

Not satisfied with just a regional win, Elaine said: "We want to go all the way - we are delighted with the regional title but are urging the people of Blackpool to get behind one of its most treasured green spaces and help put Stanley Park on the map. We want to attract more visitors to the Park and the region over the summer months. We need your votes," concluded Elaine.
