The Dallas Independent School District has hired Donald Smith as the District Integrity Officer.
Smith has over 25 years of experience as a criminal investigator with the U.S. Treasury Department in the Internal Revenue Services Criminal Investigation Division.

Before joining Dallas ISD, Smith worked as a contract federal background and security clearance investigator.From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a corporate compliance investigator with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, conducting corporate employee misconduct and business ethics investigations.
Smith worked in various field offices and positions for the U.S. Treasury Department from 1975 to 2003.He was a revenue agent in the IRS Detroit District office, and a management official, supervisory special agent, and special agent in the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division.As an IRS special agent, Smith conducted investigations concerning violations of tax, bank secrecy, money laundering, bankruptcy criminal statutes and of other related federal criminal statutes.
Smith retired in 2000 as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Military Police Corps.His last Army Reserve assignment was as the reserve mobilization commander for the Army Criminal Investigation Division Command at Fort Hood, Texas.
He is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, the U.S. Treasury Criminal Investigator Academy, and U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
