   Don Smith is the Controller for the Carl M. Freeman Foundation.Don began his career with Ernst & Young (then Ernst & Ernst) and has over 20 years of experience in senior accounting and management positions with various manufacturing and service corporations.His most recent experience includes 5 years of nonprofit experience as the Director of Finance & Operations for the Providence Center in Anne Arundel County.Don brings a unique mix of for-profit, nonprofit, operational and accounting knowledge to the Foundations.He is a CPA with an undergraduate degree in Economics and a MBA in Accounting & Finance from the University of Pittsburgh.

   Don is a Chartered Accountant and for the past fifteen years has been a partner in the firm of Wedgbury Smith Monteith LLP located in the Town of Caledon.The firm provides consulting services in complex tax planning, acquisition and reorganization.His practice also consists of auditing and accounting services to small and medium size organizations, which include both private and non-profit.
   
   Don is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, majoring in Economics.He obtained his C.A. designation in 1967 and worked as an audit manager in the Toronto and London offices of Ernst & Young.
   
   Don is Past President and Treasurer of both the Caledon Chamber of Commerce and the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association.
   
   Don was elected to the Board of Directors in 2004.He served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee from November 2004 to June 2007.
