Dede Smith Named Fine Arts Teacher Of The Year(Courtesy Photo)HONORED: All Saints teacher Dede Smith shows off the plaque she was awarded after being named Fine Arts Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.All Saints Episcopal School Teacher Dede Smith was named the 2007-08 4A Fine Arts Teacher of the Year at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) awards banquet in San Antonio in June.

Mrs. Smith has served as the sculpture and ceramics teacher at All Saints for seven years.

During that time she has co-led the All Saints Art Department with Millie Piwonka to six state art championships, including 2008.Mrs. Smith began the sculpture and ceramics program at All Saints.

> "I'm glad to represent All Saints in this recognition," Mrs. Smith said.

"I consider it a great honor for me personally and for our school.All Saints is a terrific school and it is so supportive of the arts that it deserves this award as much as I do."

Mrs. Smith also praised her students.

All Saints art instructor Dede Smith described Newman as a gifted artist always willing to share his talent and love of the medium with others.
