Rev. SmithReverend Constance C. Smith is the former Pastor of Eastern United Methodist Church, from 1995 to 2005, and is a very active community advocate.Her faith journey continuously seeks to spread the gospel and help others appreciate the importance and necessity of integrating spirituality into every day living.She spreads the word through her preaching, teaching, living, and involvement in the lives of people.She has a love for children, reading, and traveling.
Reverend Smith was born in Washington, D.C. and has one daughter, Amali.She is a graduate of Bennett College in Greensboro, N.C. and received her Master of Divinity Degree at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. [1990] and was a Crusade Scholar with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.She has begun to pursue her doctoral degree at Wesley Theological Seminary.
Reverend Smith served her home church, A.P. Shaw UMC in Washington, D.C. in many capacities before being called into ministry.In her journey towards ordination, she worked at the General Board of Church and Society of the UMC in DC [1987] and was Youth Pastor of Sharp Street UMC in Baltimore in 1986.She was ordained as a full Elder in 1992 and served as the full-time Pastor of Centerville-New Market Churches in Frederick, MD from 1988 to 1993.In 1994-1995, she was the pastor of St. Mark/Howard Park UMC in Baltimore, MD.
Reverend Smith is a member of the Clergy United for Renewal of East Baltimore (CURE) and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA).She is a board member of PULSE (People United to Live in a Safe Baltimore) and Mission Baltimore, which sponsors the Kidz Nite Inn initiative and member of Child Development Community Policing (CDCP) Program.She is the Director of the Shalom Zone Ministries for the Baltimore/Washington Conference of the United Methodist Chruch and is a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry and the Conflict Resolution Team.
In addition to holding membership in the NAACP and the National Council of Negro Women, she has served as an On Call Chaplain at Johns Hopkins University for 4 years and has taught at Africa University in Zimbabwe, Africa.
