Colton Smith, PhD, was named special projects software developer for Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network, Inc. (MPLN) and its subsidiary, Geneuity Clinical Research Services.

Smith will also focus his expertise on developing analysis and reporting of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP's).

Smith is a Knoxville native and University of Tennessee graduate who holds an undergraduate degree in microbiology and a master's degree in computer science. Smith also earned a PhD in virology/molecular biology from Harvard University. Following his studies at Harvard, Smith obtained post doctoral training at Cal Tech and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
