Drawings for the new building, which was referred to as Douglas County Wellness Center, was presented to the zoning commission by Richard Sims, chief executive officer of Missouri Ozarks Community Health.The blueprints were presented to council for review.

Sen. Bond was introduced to the small group that gathered for the Saturday afternoon visit by Rick Sims, CEO of Missouri Ozarks Community Health.

Richard Sims, CEO of Douglas County Public Health Services Group, said the new wellness center will be located adjacent to the Division of Family Services office, across the parking lot south of Missouri Ozarks Community Health.The complex is located just south of NW 12th Ave. (Highway 14-Bus.Rte. 5) in Ava.

Sims said the facility will include a walking track, exercise equipment for cardio-vascular treatment, and meeting room space for educational programs.

Richard Sims, CEO of Missouri Ozarks Community Health stated, "We will do the best we can to fill the gaps in coverage, however, many people may end up going without necessary care or will delay seeking care until they have an acute problem which increases complications and costs.
