Getting to Orlando from California came in "a roundabout way," Jeanne Simon says.

And, she adds, it happened thanks to "one of those California things - earthquakes."

The Simons moved to Orlando in 1989, because things were beginning to boom here, even though we moved with no guaranteed jobs."

The couple found work as freelancers for Nickelodeon.It was also at Nickelodeon that Jeanne Simon, 36, went on to work as a producer, line producer and unit manager on such hits as Clarissa Explains It All and Weinerville, building a reputation as one of the most respected producers in children's television today, according to Mitchel Kriegman, the creative producer for Clarissa Explains It All.

The brainchild of Jeanne Simon, The Winkles actually began as an idea for a Dr. Suess-style book using interesting rhyme schemes with the character's names.When she shared the idea with someone at Nickelodeon, "This person said this should be an animated short," she says.

So the Simons fleshed out the Winkles, creatures who resemble poodles and live on a happy planet called Merth.

"I, of course, wanted to design a happy world where the characters would work out their daily problems," Jeanne Simon says.

According to Simon, "Joel has made painting in the FLASH format an art form.

Simon, 37, makes his living producing animation for commercials (Cold-Eeze) and doing storyboards, the rough drafts directors use to make movies, TV shows and films.But with the little fat boy who never learns, films that cost just $40,000 each, he sense his shot at the big time.

Simon sees a day when A&S can move to "that next level," employing local animators, "showing people everywhere the talent we have here in Orlando."

A native of Texas, Simon had studied art and business and worked in film production as an art director and storyboard artist on a variety of shows, including seaQuest DSV.

Jeanne began her career just outside St. Louis, Missouri as the news director for an independent station where she was bitten by the showbiz bug.Her path led her back to St. Louis where she produced commercials, documentaries, and industrials.Quickly realizing that the Midwest wasn't exactly a mecca for TV or film production, she packed up the truck and moved to Beverly.At the Corman school of film production, she actually paid to work 18 hour days (just kidding, sort of).After leaving Corman studios and catching up on several weeks of lost sleep, she coordinated for shows such as 1st and Ten for HBO and Lethal Weapon II special unit.Once Jeanne and Mark decided to team up, in the marital sense, they decided to move to the land of a thousand t-shirt shops ... Orlando.
