  Dr. Henry Simon has been Chairman of Zarlink's Board of Directors since July 1994, and has served as a Director since 1992.Dr. Simon is a Special Partner with Schroder Ventures Life Sciences Advisors, a global investment group focusing on the life sciences sector.He joined Schroder Ventures in 1987 to head a venture capital group that developed a life sciences business in the UK, was CEO of the life sciences team until 1997 and its Chairman until 2001.
  
  Prior to that, Dr. Simon was President of Technicon Corporation, a medical diagnostics equipment manufacturer, and Vice-President of ITT Europe.He began his professional career in 1959 with Bell Telephone Laboratories.
  
  Dr. Simon is also Chairman of the Board of Leica Microsystems AG and a Director with Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, and Gyros AB.He previously served as Chairman of Shire Pharmaceuticals, Chiroscience and several other companies.
  
  Dr. Simon holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the Institute of Technology in Munich, and a doctorate in Telecommunications from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
