A mentor to breast cancer survivors and their families, Ms. Simon served as the first lee County American Cancer Society Relay for life where she exceeded her goal.She chaired this event from 1999-2001.She also chairs the Mechanicsville UMC Health and Welfare Committee where she conducts monthly blood pressure screenings and coordinates Health Fairs for the church and community.

The meeting was called to order at 1:10 p.m. by Barbara Simon, Committee Chair.

Barbara Simon asked for comments and input on the Committee's goals and priorities.Increasing physician membership was encouraged.Spohn Kleberg's training program needs were used as an example of how RAC can step in.

The question of fund-raising was brought up, e.g., education hand-outs, brochures and PSA's.

The committee agreed to meet again on Tuesday, August 5th from 10:00 am to 12:00 PM at Spohn Memorial.

Barbara Simon, CareSouth Carolina Lab Supervisor, along with Lucretia Mack and Marnie Walls started the Lee County Cancer Support Group in February of 2004.
