   bio simmons.jpgWith more than 25 years in leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, Bill Simmons brings to clients a rich background in consulting, development, marketing and communications.Through strategic planning and hands-on collaboration, he has played significant roles in advancing the missions of educational, cultural and healthcare clients in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
   
   Bill joined GG+A in 1993 after playing a founding role at Liberty Science Center in Library State Park, N.J., first as chief planning consultant and then as vice president for external affairs.In addition to spearheading the completion of a $68 million capital campaign, he created the Center's development and marketing programs, and led the marketing of the Center's successful launch.Previously, he served as a planning consultant and held several senior management positions, including founding director of development, for the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York City.
   
   In 2000, he became vice president of advancement and executive director for the Stony Brook Foundation.During his three-year tenure there, he launched Stony Brook's first university-wide campaign of $250 million, encompassing the five-school Stony Brook Medical Center, University Hospital, and 12 academic and program units.He also implemented comprehensive development and alumni relations programs.Bill resumed his senior consulting role with GG+A in 2003, specializing in development of cases for support and branding strategies for development programs.
   
   He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Rutgers College and pursued graduate work at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.

   Previously, Mr. Simmons served as the Vice President for Advancement at Stony Brook University (State University of New York) and Executive Director of the Stony Brook Foundation.At Stony Brook, Mr. Simmons developed comprehensive fundraising and alumni relations programs, and initiated the University's first university-wide, $250 million campaign.

   At the Liberty Science Center, Liberty State Park, New Jersey, Mr. Simmons served as Vice President for External Affairs and Development Director during the completion of a capital campaign for the $68 million science center, including an OMNIMAX theater.He oversaw development and marketing staffs, planned and implemented all development functions, and managed marketing and theater operations.
   
   At the Audubon Institute, Mr. Simmons provided Resident Campaign Counsel and also served as Acting Director of Development.Campaign responsibilities included the refinement and implementation of the campaign plan, committee management, and publications.
   
   From 1982 to 1985, Mr. Simmons served in multiple positions at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, culminating in his Directorship.As Director of Marketing and Development, he was responsible for all fundraising initiatives.As Director of Education, he formulated education philosophy and goals, and implemented education programs.
   
   From 1978 to 1982, Mr. Simmons served as Project Manager and Account Executive for Lynch Industries, coordinating design, research, fabrication, marketing, and public relations for client museums, visitor centers, and corporations.
   
   Mr. Simmons holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Rutgers College and pursued graduate work at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.He is a member of the American Association of Museums, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, and the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
