   Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, appointed Judge Louis F. Simmons Jr. of Detroit to its Community Care Board of Trustees. Simmons is a judge with the Wayne County Circuit Court.

   Judge Louis F. Simmons, who hails from Flint, Michigan, received his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1956. His career as a judge began in 1981 with an appointment by former Governor Milken of Michigan to the 36th District Court. Currently, he serves as Circuit Court Judge in Wayne County, Michigan, appointed by Governor Blanchard in 1983. Judge Simmons has also enjoyed prosperity in the private sector and as counsel for Wayne County Probate Court, the Attorney General's office and as a Public Administrator.
   
   Throughout his career, Judge Simmons has been awarded several appointments. This includes appointments to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, Federal National Mortgage Association and the Michigan State Judiciary Committee. As well, Judge Simmons was appointed by Governor G. Mennen Williams as Senate Committee Legal Advisor.
   
   In addition to Judge Simmons' two appointments to the Bench, he has also served on numerous advisory boards. His board tenures have included roles as President for Detroit Chapter of American Trial Lawyers Association, Detroit Bar Association, Wolverine Bar Association and University of Detroit Mercy - Law Alumni Association. As well, he is affiliated with Henry Ford Health System, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, 14th Congressional Democratic District and several other organizations for the enrichment of the law profession and the community.
   
   Throughout his years of service, Judge Simmons has been recognized several times over for his commitment and accomplishment. He has been appreciated by the Detroit Bar Association, Mediation Tribunal Association, Minority Women Network and his alma mater, the University of Detroit-Mercy. Additionally, he has been awarded by various community service organizations for his tireless efforts.
