JOHN P. SIMELARO, D.O., F.A.C.O.I. (PCOM '71), received the 2007 O.J. Snyder Memorial Medal on Friday, January 26, 2007, during the annual observance of Founders' Day at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). The O.J. Snyder Memorial Medal is the college's highest award, presented to reward and recognize leadership to the osteopathic profession and to the college. Board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases, Dr. Simelaro completed an internship and internal medicine residency at PCOM and a pulmonary fellowship at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia. He also earned his master of science degree at PCOM. A professor in the department of internal medicine at PCOM, Dr. Simelaro established the College's division of pulmonary medicine. A member of the American Osteopathic Association, he is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Angiology.
