    Yeh Shu-Han is one of Taiwan's leading trumpet soloists.He studied at the National Taiwan Normal University and the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique de Paris, where he studied with Marcel Lagorce.He became principal trumpet with the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra in 1984.In recent years, he has been very active in Taiwan's wind band scene and was President of the Republic of China Band Association from 1992 to 1994.He has served as conductor of the Taiwan Symphony Wind Ensemble and the National Taiwan Normal Univesity Band.He is currently a member of the WASBE Board of Directors.

    The ballroom was graced with other eminent attendees, such as Mr. Yeh Shu-Han, past president of the Asia and Pacific Band Directors Association, and Mr. Lee Sang-cheol, chairman of the Jeju summer band festival.

    From his installation as TOKWO's principal conductor in 1984, Maestro Frederick Fennell devoted himself to improving the orchestra's technique.In 1989 he led the orchestra's first European tour, to the Netherlands, Austria, Britain, France, and Switzerland.He has been TOKWO's conductor laureate since 1996.In the United States, his leadership and influence in the music world has been indisputable; for example, in 1997 he became the first civilian to conduct the "President's Own" United States Marine Band.

    While in Paris, Mr. Yeh studied with internationally renowned trumpet soloist MauriceAndre.Mr. Yeh has performed as soloist internationally in the U.S, China, Japan, Europe and across Asia.Mr. Yeh continues to play a key role in the development of brass playing and wind bands in Taiwan, foremost as conductor of the Taiwan Youth Band, the National Taiwan Normal University Wind Ensemble, and as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at the Taipei National University of the Arts.As a member of World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and the International Trumpet Guild, Mr. Yeh has taken part in numerous international conferences and brought Taiwan's wind ensembles into the international arena, as well as brought the international spotlight on Taiwan through his co-operation with such luminaries as Frederick Fennell and Alfred Reed.

    The Yeh Shu-Han Brass Quintet, founded by Shu-Han in 1986, continues to make performances across Taiwan and Asia and was the first Taiwan brass group to perform in the National Concert Hall, as well as being invited to give a command performance for President Lee Teng-Hui of the R.O.C.
